Queue was ridiculous and we decided to leave and try again. Very glad we did. Had a great time 5 days later when we went. Very clean and tidy pool. Nice staff. Touch pricey in the cafe but that's to be expected. Felt like I was on holiday and very reasonable prices. £4 for 10 hours parking or 1hr £1. Same price as local indoor pools per person (under £6 each). Spent a very nice 3. 5hrs. Will return. Note you must get there early on very hot days or you won't get in. We got here at 8am, left the house at 6 because we lived like an hour away, we knew the queue would be ridiculously long because it was a hot day and we had been there before. The water is very clean and a tad bit hotter than other outdoor swimming pools which was great (It wasnt hot it just wasn't as freezing cold as other ones I've been to). It's also very budget friendly:) Now the only problem was that there was a lot of bugs if you were to sit out and tan but that was normal because the location is by a lot of trees, I didn't really mind them though because they were tiny.

Hotels in Droitwich This ancient settlement was originally known for its substantial salt deposits and had become a highly desirable spa centre by the Victorian period. Today, Droitwich is well regarded for its attractive Tudor architecture, and features one of the country's most beloved lidos. Places of interest Droitwich is the home of one of the Midlands' great mansions, Chateau Impney, a Grade II listed landmark that was built in the 1870s and emulates the style of a majestic French castle. The building, which was once the residence of the affluent Victorian industrialist and politician Job Corbett, is now a popular conference centre and one of the finest of all Droitwich hotels. Originally opened in the 1930s, and reopened in 2007, Droitwich Spa Lido attracts large numbers of families during the school summer holidays. The open-air swimming pool is next to a unique Art Deco landmark, and is now one of only a very small number of lidos still open in the country. Other acclaimed attractions in the town include the Webbs of Wychbold garden centre and the Zombie Boot Camp, the latter of which is the leading 'zombie experience' attraction in the U. K. Where to stay and eat Consider dining at the award-winning Gardeners Arms restaurant, which has won a prestigious CAMRA Pub of the Season award for its delightful British dishes.
OUTDOOR swimming pools have been able to reopen as the lockdown restrictions are eased, with many heading straight to the lido after months of them being closed. It is well timed, as the UK is going through a mini heatwave with temperatures hitting 24C this week. 16 Millions of pounds have since been spent on renovating many of the outdoor swimming pools that were built across the UK in the 1930s Credit: Getty Images The first open air swimming pools were built in the mid-1800s. However, they became a real trend in the 1930s when 169 of the outdoor pools were built by locals councils. Scores of them closed in the 1990s due to cuts in funding, but thanks to local campaigners may were saved from demolition and millions have been spent over the last decade to bring them up to scratch. Booking on the website wasn't the easiest as the website is a mess (especially on a mobile phone) but got there in the end! Car parking is pay and... Had a lovely afternoon at the Lido with me and three teenagers and two 10 year olds. Because of Covid we had to book in advance which was not easy as each person has to sign on to the web-site but it.... First time tried on hottest day of the year.
Name: Droitwich Spa Lido Location: Droitwich Current status: Open Date built: 1935 Architect: Edward Prentice Mawson Listed building status: Not listed Lead organisation: Wychavon Leisure Community Description One of Britain's last remaining inland, open air saltwater pools. The original art deco building stands tall at the end of the pool and the lido premises are nestled in beautiful, green parkland. The lido closed in 2000 but in April 2005, the people of Droitwich Spa held a parish poll in which 98% voted in favour of restoring the lido. It was re-opened in 2007 and still uses the natural brine feed. Facilities Open-air saltwater swimming pools heated to 23°C: 40m pool with beach entry, children's wet play area with water cannons and fountains, sun terraces and Lido Café. Notable fact Droitwich Spa is situated on vast deposits of salt and the town's natural brine contains 2½ lbs of salt per gallon – ten times stronger than sea water and rivalled only by the Dead Sea. When the Lido opened in 1935 it was heated to the exact temperature of the Mediterranean Sea.
